Grace Episcopal is the church home to children ranging in age from 4 to 14. Christian education classes are held on Sunday mornings 9:45-10:30 (during the 10:00 service) in the Tuttle House located adjacent to the church. We return to our families in time for announcements and Holy Communion. We are proud of how our Christian Education program is rebounding following the difficult years of covid and its effect on church attendance. Members of the congregation have come forward to volunteer keeping our classes staffed and moving forward. Safe Church Training is arranged as needed.
Our primary children (K-2) learn the who, what, where, when and why about What We Do in Church. They are introduced to the Seasons of the Church and how we mark them throughout the church year. Older elementary students (Gr.3-5) are introduced to the Book of Common Prayer, the Hymnal and Lift Every Voice as the “books in the pew”. How these books guide our worship and praise God’s word is the perfect compliment to their experience in What We Do in Church.
Our oldest students learn about the Lord’s Prayer and follow the curriculum, Lessons that Work. These lesson plans are written by experienced church teachers using practical approaches to respond to the needs of volunteer teachers. They are designed to follow the Revised Common Lectionary and published by The Episcopal Church. Confirmation classes are scheduled based on the Bishop’s calendar.
Interested children of Grace are invited to consider serving the church as junior and senior acolytes. Training is available to all who are interested.
We are proud to guide our youngest to become disciples of Jesus, learn to pray, worship with the congregation and see God’s word and love come to pass in the greater community.
