The ministry of acolyting at Grace Church is open to all young people in grades 4 through 12–as well as to adults who are looking for a way to become more involved in the service. Duties vary for junior and senior acolytes. The senior acolytes have a bit more responsibility and as junior acolytes have more experience, they can move into the role of a senior acolyte. Being an acolyte has always been a way we can get our kids involved in church on a regular basis and give them a different perspective on their Christian education and growth. Along with Sunday School, having an assignment as an acolyte on Sunday gives the kids more insight into the service itself and it’s traditions as well as a responsibility that impacts others and assists with the smooth flow of the Sunday service. It’s yet another layer to a young person’s Christian education. Training is available and we welcome all young people AND adults—to join this very special ministry.
